Coach Adam - Double Delight

Adam's last game for the Houston Dutch Lions was before Thanksgiving so he had plenty of time to rest and reenergize before this weekend's tough matchup against Titans Revolution TFC.

Recently the Houston Dutch Lions have taken their foot off the gas and the title seems a distance dream now, but that doesn't deter Adam who is looking to keep in the race for Top Goalscorer. He made the dream start by opening the scoring and getting his 10th goal in 10 games. With the ball on the left-hand side of the field, a delightful ball was sent across the box to an unmarked Adam to slot home with the first time finish.

The Lions then exploded and fell to a 3-1 scoreline with Titans taking their chances and the most of a heavy breeze. At a corner, Adam was pushed into the goalpost and was awarded a penalty to try and make it 3-2 just before halftime.

Beach Soccer Goal Britannia Soccer AcademyIf you don't know, Bear Creek Park is not the best of locations for soccer games, with certain fields resembling Beach Soccer from the amount of sand on the fields. Unfortunately for Adam, this sandy goalmouth got the better of him and his penalty was saved after his spot kick rolled in the dirt just before he kicked it.

Just before the half-time whistle, tempers started to flair and male egos were questioned as players pushed and shoved after a foul which saw Titans go down to 10 men and it should have been 9 with one of their players acting like Conor McGregor and trying to start a boxing match when in actual fact it looked different from the sidelines.

Adam went on to grab a great assist in the second half, taking him to 4 assists in total for the season so far. The Dutch Lions couldn't find the equalizing goal they were searching for and ended up giving away a sloppy goal at the end to finish the game on the losing side of 4-2.

Coach Stephen - FINALLY A WIN!

Coach Stephen had last been Goalkeeper for the 3-0 defeat against CJ's Barca but was ready to guide his team back to victory...or at least help.

This weekend University SC faced United Wednesdays, the only team they have beaten in the league (9/25/16), and this time we managed to do the double!

University SC was straight out the gate and took a commanding 3-0 lead including a ridiculous angle volley from Lenz The Bison. Even Stephen wanted to get in on the action with blistering runs and great passes from Center Back, but remembered his job and went back to trying to keep a clean sheet.

Everything looked to be plain sailing and easy street for University SC but as you have probably read throughout the issues, we made it hard for ourselves. In the second half, stand in Goalkeeper/Manager gave away a penalty and was saved from a red card by recovering defenders, but couldn't save the penalty.

We then let a poor clearance led to a second goal, which meant we had 15 minutes to weather the storm and hold on for the win with the score now at 3-2. In previous games, we would have gone on to concede again and maybe even lose the game but TODAY WAS OUR DAY! We bagged ourselves a late goal to finish the game 4-2 and WINNERS!

This was both Coach Adam's and Stephen's last game of 2016 and are looking forward to helping their clubs in 2017!

To recap and summarize the 10 issues we have put on this blog:

Coach Adam - Scores loads of goal (10 so far), had a goal per game streak of 7 and even chipped in with a couple of assists (4).

Coach Stephen - Started so well, manages to injure himself, becomes full-time cameraman for Adam, returns in glorious fashion to end the year with a win! It's all about the positives.

We hope you all have a great holiday break and will be back for the next issue of Britannia Coaches in Action in 2017!
