Coach Adam - Another game, another goal
After Coach Adam's Man of the Match performance last weekend for the Houston Dutch Lions they faced Titans Revolution TFC this weekend (Sunday 25th September) and he started as he left off!
The game started with plenty of energy, competition and end-to-end action before Adam managed to make his mark on the game with a superb goal.
With some nice build up play through the midfield, Adam managed to spin in the box and receive a perfect through ball where calmly took one touch before slotting the ball past the out-rushing keeper into the bottom corner.
Adam then had a few more great efforts as well as nearly providing assistant before he was substituted in the final minutes of the game. The Houston Dutch Lions ran out 4-2 winners and now find themselves with back to back wins in their HFA Division 1A campaign. This takes Adam's total to 4 goals in 2 games.
Coach Stephen - Double Game Delight
University SC had to bounce back quickly from their disappointing defeat last weekend as they faced 2 games in 2 days with their first game coming in the Memorial Cup on Saturday 24th September against Get A Job F.C.
University SC started slowly and found themselves down 1-0 early on to the HFA Division 3B side but managed to regain their focus and get themselves back on the board before halftime. With the lack of substitutions and heat combining to reek havoc on Get A Job FC, Stephen started the game in midfield but eventually slotted back into Center Back and found his rhythm in the second half.
University took control in the second half and ran out 3-1 winners, advancing to the next round of the Memorial Cup.
Coach Stephen's second game came the following day with a Division 2A clash against United Wednesdays. Carrying a slight injury, Stephen wasn't expecting to play too much but managed to play most of the game in defense.
The game started very easy for University SC but they did not take their chances when in possession. Second half saw University make the breakthrough they were needing with a great solo effort by Ryan who broke the offside trap, lifted the ball over the keeper before rounding him to slot home the finish.
Late into the second half, Coach Stephen found himself on the end of a injury which ended his game but the team managed to hang onto the victory, clean sheet and their first 3 points of the season with the 1-0 win.
Rest and recovery was on the card for Stephen so he was unable to make the game on Monday evening for the Stingrays in the HWSA.
Next weekend sees Coach Adam in action and looking to keep his fine run in front of goal, and Coach Stephen unable to attend his game due to time conflicts but will hopefully be back to full fitness for his HWSA game on Monday.
